My take on "five point someone"...

"This is a work of fiction, but fiction needs real inspiration.I love them all so much that I could literally write a book on them."
- Chetan Bhagat, author of "five point someone"

Here is a marvellous literary work by an ex-IITian, a 1995 batch IITD graduate.A real gripping gatha of campus life at IIT.

I don't have to say much about the novel. It's a class in itself. It's flawless, lucid, very true and makes a gr8 reading for any IITian or non-IITian. I could relive my IITR days for the 5 hrs I devoted to completing this novel. An amazing story.A four-year ordeal of 3 bosom friends to survive the IIT system with touching love story between Hari, one of the three friends and Neha, a Prof's daughter.A tale of 3 friends copping up with their 5.X GPA, a fallout of "system of realtiveness" at IITs.

Read for yourself and I guarantee u won't disappoint urself ,rather you ud get inspired to pen down some article in praise as I am doing rite now:-)

I found some phrashes and paras in the novel very striking and touching and so decided to pen them down here .

The best one

"Two,don't judge others too quickly.I thought my son was useless because he didn't get into IIT.I tell you what,I was a useless father. It is great to get into IIT,but it is not the end of the world if you don't.All of you should be proud to have the IIT tag, but never ever judge anyone who is not from this institute- that alone can define the greatness of this institute."

"Alok recalculated his score, hoping for some miracle to happen on the calculator. But miracles never happen in IIT, only crape grades do.

"See that is the thing.Once you get a GPA in IIT,everyone has an opinion abou it, about you, even if it's a fashion design student."

"She held my hand, though she hadn't stopped laughing. What is so funny to women all the time? And why do I still find her so beautiful? And why the hell can't I kiss her?"

"Girls are beautiful, let's face it, and life is quite, quite worthless without them."

""How's Neha?"Alok said.
"She is fine. That is the only thing that keeps me in IIT,"I said. "

"Cooperate to Dominate. The IIT system is unfair because:
1.It suppresses tlent and individual spirit.
2.It extracts the best years of one's life from the country's brightest minds.
3.It judges you with a draconian GPA system that destroys relationships.
4.The profs don't care for the students.
5.IITs have hardly contributed to the country."

"How did I get here? I was topper in my school all my life. That is how I got into IIT,right? But then why I am now a low-perfomer, five-point something cheat sitting on the insti roof at midnight, unsure of my future?"

""It is about knowledge. And making the most of the system, even if it has flaws. And it is about not listening to bloody Ryan all the time,"I said."

""Oh Neha, don't cry,"I said, probably to make her cry a bit more.I can't tell how good it feels when a girl cries because she missed you."
