"Professionalism" - my interpretation..

It's been 2 years working in the IT industry and like every IT junta I have learnt the bads and goods of this Industry...

The Industry is so large that u can't miss finding the variety of junta u may be loooking for.Uniqness of personalities brings flavor to the working environment, makes it lively and surely challenging.U can find people talking about being professional synonymus with being smart in our daily life. When I was in college, I was intrigued by the term "bein practical" and when I joined industry I fell into the trap of "being professional". What the hell this means?

Professionalism as many define is all about being smart enuf to return home from workplace unscathed. To work no more than what u r being paid for i.e no of hrs to work ~ amount of paisa coming to one's salary a/c.Nice definitions!!

But when a defintion hints of being irresponsible, I would say that's an unacceptable one and such a smartness is self defeating and void in nature. Many times people tend to believe and practice such a hollow definition of professionalism. They laugh at others when they forget that they themselves are the center stage of laughter.Sooner or later they learn the lesson of true professionalism.

In my opinion, professionalism is all about being responsible, being able to motivate others to be the same. It' s about being interested in contributing to the cohesiveness of a team. It's about respecting each other's potentials , rather than coronating oneself as the "smarter" one.Believe me that's suicidal and self-mockery of oneself. Smart is okay,Smarter may not be.It's certainly difficult to have flamboyant personal relationship with evryone at the work-place but we can always have good professional relationship with every1.Afterall that matters more at the work-place. Professional smartness is not at all about being able to mange to work less and pass on the blame for the same to others.Such an smartness is illusionary in nature. It may work somehwere but is bound to put one in deep shit at every other place.

I guess I shud put FULL STOP now.So it goes here.
